Youth Network for Social and Environmental Development
(YONSED) has been working persistently in environmental advocacy and awareness activities at local as well as policy level ensuring coordination with different governmental, national and international organization. In coordination with Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Small Grants Program (SGP) of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), YONSED started advocacy program entitled ENVIRON VISION, where experts and researchers work together with young students, teachers, politicians and social workers through different special and serial events. In these events, environmental issues are critically discussed, and consensus is built to combat with various environmental problems.

Mission
Our mission is to enhance environmental awareness and advocacy by mobilizing the youth groups through the networks.
Environmental advocacy at policy as well as at local level is most essential to address the genuine environmental issues of the country. Indeed the youth has a vital role to play in this and the YONSED being a youth led organization has a great interest to undertake such activities in cooperation of youth leaders, policy makers, environmental experts, national Medias, youth/student and concerned environmental organizations along with the general public to prioritize the environmental issues of the country at the national plan and policy level.
Objectives:
- To strengthen the national plan and policies through policy level dialogues.
- To enhance environmental advocacy from youth to community.
- To mobilize youth to voice their concerns and take action to mitigate and adapt to various environmental issues.
- To increase the level of involvement of governmental and non-governmental organization for coordination in environmental activities by providing youth with environmental trainings to advance their ideas.
- To increase the access of environmental information for the public.
With the success of ENVIRON VISION I, YONSED embarked on ENVIRON VISION II in the support of UNDP/GEF/SGP. ENVIRON VISION II attempts to enhance environmental awareness at public level and advocacy at policy level by carrying out various serial as well as special events, capacity building and communication. These activities are carried on in coordination with different NGO/INGOs, GOs and CBOs. The project has been providing interactive platform to the youth to bring up their hidden talents and share their knowledge and vision for conservation and sustainable management of the environment.
Message From Chairman
It was the year 2005 in the month of March; a vision arose as a faint dream before the eyes of a group of environmental students. It was the vision of developing environmentally sound nation. As a result, Youth Network for Social and Environmental Development (YONSED) has been established to make a remarkable contribution in creating eco-societies and environmental conservation from youth level with a mission to enhance environmental advocacy and awareness at local as well as at policy level.
Uniting and motivating youth for environmental conservation is very challenging task in the economically poor countries like Nepal where most of the communities are dependent on natural resources. YONSED with its establishment has been facing numbers of obstacles in giving persistency to its effort in the field of addressing environmental issues by empowering and mobilizing youth in bringing about their voices concerning to the environment at local as well as policy level. But we feel honored and privileged when a youth comes to us, shares his successful stories and says ‘Yes We Can’
